Bayern Munich moves closer to signing Eintracht Frankfurt's Nathaniel Brown

The medical check had originally been scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at the German national team's base in Winston-Salem, but the team's early World Cup exit forced the plan to be rescheduled. Germany lost to Paraguay 4-5 on penalties in the round of 16 on Monday, with the match described in Bild as: „Die deutsche Auswahl war mit 3:4 im Elfmeterschießen ausgeschieden."

Transfer terms

Negotiations between the two clubs were led by Bayern sporting director Max Eberl and Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche. According to Transfermarkt, the package is worth around 55 million euros, comprising a fixed fee of 50 million euros plus up to 5 million euros in possible bonus payments. Frankfurt had initially demanded more than 60 million euros.

Brown's former youth club 1. FC Nürnberg, for whom he made 43 professional appearances, will benefit from the deal. Under the terms of the transfer, the Nuremberg club is set to receive approximately 12.5 percent of the total sum, equating to around 6.25 million euros.

Nürnberg's cut

Brown holds German-American nationality and has played 75 competitive matches for Eintracht Frankfurt. He had a contract with the club until 2030. The defender had quickly risen in the German national team setup: „Erst im Oktober hatte Brown sein Debüt im Team von Bundestrainer Julian Nagelsmann gefeiert," Bild reported.

Once the medical checks are completed successfully, Brown is expected to sign the long-term deal at the offices of the German record champion. Bayern has not publicly commented on the negotiations.

A heavy two-and-a-half-day schedule of examinations awaits the player, who stood 1.76 meters tall in the Bild account. The transfer, if finalized, would be one of the most expensive moves involving a German left-back in recent years.

New discussions about the future of head coach Julian Nagelsmann are scheduled for Thursday, broadcaster Sky reported. The loss to Paraguay, decided on penalties after a tense night in the United States, has intensified scrutiny around the team in the days since.
