Bayeux, July 10, 2026

The 68-meter-long Bayeux Tapestry arrived in London on Thursday and will be displayed at the British Museum in a specially made display case.

The Bayeux Tapestry, an almost thousand-year-old embroidered masterpiece from the 11th century, embarked on its journey from the Norman city of Bayeux to London on Thursday. The work is part of the UNESCO World Heritage and tells the story of the conquest of England by William the Conqueror, who defeated the English king Harold II at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The exhibition at the British Museum is considered a major cultural event that highlights the historical connections between France and Great Britain.
