The Federation of German Industries (BDI) has warned against government participation by the AfD following the state elections in September and described it as "fatal" for Germany as a business location.

Background: AfD Leading in Polls

In view of the upcoming state elections in Saxony-Anhalt, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and Berlin, the Federation of German Industries (BDI) is raising the alarm. BDI Managing Director Tanja Gönner told the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND): "Wir hielten eine Regierungsbeteiligung der AfD für fatal." Her remarks come at a time when the AfD is clearly the strongest force in polls in the two eastern German states of Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and is even working toward governing alone in Saxony-Anhalt.
