Blau-Weiß Linz decided their opening match in the Austrian 2. Liga against SKN St. Pölten in their favor on Friday evening with a narrow victory in stoppage time.

The team from Upper Austria started the new season with a late goal, thereby providing a perfect debut. Over long stretches of the match, the visitors from Lower Austria had been able to keep things level, but in the decisive minutes the Linz side struck.

The attacking players Ronivaldo and Cem Sekerlioglu, who made their mark in the decisive moments, played a significant role in the victory. Sekerlioglu had already been in the spotlight in the run-up to the encounter, and Ronivaldo also proved to be an active presence in the home side's attacking play.

On the Lower Austrian side, the defense led by Erik Weinhauer and midfielder Nico Grimbs offered resistance for a long time. Grimbs, who is described as 22 years old, is one of the young players in the St. Pölten squad and tried to give the game structure.
