London, October 30, 2026
Oil giant BP reported sharply higher profits in London on October 30, 2026, as higher oil prices and improved refinery margins boosted results.
The group therefore benefited from favorable energy market conditions for BP. Higher oil prices improved crude oil operations, while rising refinery margins provided an additional contribution to results.
Shipping is now using different, longer routes. BP said: “Shipping is taking different and longer routes”. The available information does not indicate what consequences this will have for supply chains and costs.
Despite the higher profit, BP announced no additional share buybacks. “Unlike many of its competitors recently, the British company did not announce any further share buybacks.” The group thus forgoed an instrument that other major energy companies may use to return capital to shareholders in this situation.
