After the Brazilian national football team's elimination at the World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) has expressed confidence in coach Carlo Ancelotti and confirmed him for the upcoming World Cup cycle.
The "Seleção" lost on Sunday in New York in the round of 16 by 1:2 against Norway and thus missed the chance to advance to the next round. The tournament had been held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Brazil, the record world champion, thus failed early and triggered heated discussions at home about the future of the team.
Despite the disappointment, the CBF is sticking with its coach. "He is our coach and will be in the next World Cup cycle as well," said CBF sporting director Rodrigo Caetano. The Brazilian federation is thus deliberately opting for continuity, even though Ancelotti has only been in office since last year and has so far not been able to take part in a major tournament with Brazil.
