A report published on Friday by the British National Audit Office (NAO) has revealed new details about the living and rental arrangements of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on the royal estate in Windsor.

Tenancy Over Two Decades

The report shows that the brother of King Charles III. paid a symbolic rent – a so-called "peppercorn rent" – for the 30-room Royal Lodge for more than two decades, effectively living there rent-free. The estate is located on royal property in Windsor, near London.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor took over the long-term lease in 2003. According to the NAO, he paid a one-time fee of around one million pounds and invested another £7.5 million in renovating the property. The contract was for 75 years and allowed him to sublet outbuildings on the grounds.
