A 31-year-old man on Thursday in Vienna beat down another man on a park bench at Südtiroler Platz without any apparent reason for the attack, as the Vienna-Wieden police reported.
The incident occurred at Südtiroler Platz in the Vienna-Wieden district. According to the responsible police station, the later victim was sitting on a park bench when the 31-year-old suddenly struck him. According to witness statements, the attacker struck without warning and without any contact with the victim. Regarding the type and severity of the injuries, it was initially only known that the victim had to receive initial care from the emergency services and was taken to a hospital.
The alerted police officers arrested the suspect at the scene. Toward the officers, the 31-year-old became increasingly aggressive while they attempted to clarify the background of the attack. In its release, the police spoke of the attack having come „out of nowhere“.
