The Federal Ministry of Defence has named eight former Bundeswehr sites in Germany that are being considered for a rapid return of the armed forces; among the selected properties is the former Rantzau Barracks in Boostedt in the Segeberg district.

Eight sites nationwide in the shortlist

The Federal Ministry of Defence has identified eight former sites in Germany that are being considered for a rapid return of the Bundeswehr. In addition to Boostedt in Schleswig-Holstein, Soest and Mönchengladbach in North Rhine-Westphalia, Friedberg in Hesse, Kusel and Speyer in Rhineland-Palatinate, as well as Sigmaringen in Baden-Württemberg are among the selected properties. According to the ministry, the sites are particularly well suited for the new military service due to their location, infrastructure, and capacities.
