Burglary Spree in Vienna Causing 1.1 Million Euros in Damage: 43-Year-Old in Custody

During the burglaries, the 43-year-old is said to have broken open the apartment doors each time, as the Vienna State Police Directorate announced. According to current findings, the crimes were concentrated in the Inner City as well as other Viennese districts.

Modus Operandi of the Perpetrators

According to the information provided, the investigations were led by the Center/East branch of the Long-Term Investigation Group (Gruppe Lang). Gradually, the evidence increasingly pointed to the 43-year-old Georgian national as the alleged main perpetrator.

The man was ultimately arrested in Slovakia and extradited to Austria. Following his extradition, he was placed in a correctional facility by order of the Vienna Public Prosecutor's Office and has been in custody ever since.

Extradition and Custody

Investigators do not rule out that further crimes may be attributed to the group. The role of the accomplices is also the subject of the ongoing investigations.

The police also praised the cooperation with the Slovak authorities, which had led to the man's arrest. Tips from the public had likewise contributed to solving the case, according to the information provided.

The total damage caused amounts to approximately 1.1 million euros. This makes the spree one of the most serious waves of burglaries that Vienna has recorded in recent years.
