Frankfurt am Main, 28 June 2026
Norway's Casper Stornes won the Ironman European Championship in Frankfurt am Main on Sunday, crossing the line at the Römerberg in 4:50:23 to secure the title and one of the qualifying slots for October's Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.
A field of 49 professional athletes started the race at the Langener Waldsee on a Sunday morning, joined by approximately 3,000 amateur competitors from 83 nations. Race organizers, in coordination with the city of Frankfurt, announced the course adjustments on Friday in response to forecasts of temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius. The organizer stated: "Diese Anpassungen wurden vorgenommen, um eine längere Hitzebelastung zu reduzieren und die Gesundheit der Athletinnen und Athleten zu unterstützen."
