The 39-year-old Qin Jianping fell into the sea on May 27 during a nighttime walk along the promenade in Haikou on the Chinese holiday island of Hainan in stormy weather and survived there for seven days until fishermen pulled him out of the water alive in early June.
Qin Jianping, a tourist from the autonomous region of Guangxi Zhuang, was out on the waterfront promenade of the capital Haikou on the evening of May 27 when he slipped on the wet surface and fell into the water. According to the state news agency Xinhua, "sei am 27. Footage from police surveillance cameras reportedly confirmed the incident. Qin was carrying no rescue equipment whatsoever, and he also lost his mobile phone, leaving him unable to call for help.
