Chipotle Mexican Grill has removed jalapeños from some of its restaurants while the Minnesota Department of Health investigates a salmonella outbreak that has been linked to the chain.

The Minnesota Department of Health said on Monday that Chipotle Mexican Grill has pulled jalapeños from a subset of its locations as part of an ongoing probe into a salmonella outbreak. Investigators are working to determine whether the peppers, or another menu item, are the source of the infections that have been reported in the state.

Health officials have not publicly disclosed how many restaurants are affected, how many people have fallen ill, or which specific Chipotle locations are involved. The department said the investigation remains active and that additional details would be released as they become available.
