The FPÖ is facing criticism from ÖVP, SPÖ, and the Greens over the employment of Rene Schimanek, who was convicted of national socialist reactivation, at the Freedom Education Institute (FBI), the party's affiliated educational academy.

As the newspaper "Standard" reported on Wednesday, former FPÖ city councilor from Langenlois Rene Schimanek has been a staff member of the Freedom Education Institute since last year. The FPÖ referred to the Austria Press Agency to a statement from FBI managing director Fritz Simhandl. Simhandl confirmed the employment and rejected the allegations.

According to this, Schimanek is employed as a staff member of the FBI; the conviction is connected to the obituary of his deceased father and does not affect his work at the institute.
