Vienna, August 7, 2026
The Austrian Bundesliga club Wiener Austria will play the first leg of the second qualifying round of the Conference League against Beitar Jerusalem on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. CEST.
The match in Jerusalem marks Wiener Austria's entry into the European competitive series of the new season. The two clubs are meeting for the first time in an official competition. Beitar Jerusalem, six-time Israeli champions, had surprisingly qualified for this round. Those in charge in Vienna see the international assignment above all as a development opportunity for their own squad.
Among the personnel issues highlighted during preparation was the return of Aleksandar Dragovic to the Austria squad after several injury layoffs. Striker Shon Weissman, who was one of the few constants in Vienna's attacking play last season, is also expected to be in the starting lineup. Coach Stephan Helm had stressed in the preceding training days that international appearances like these provide valuable experience especially for younger players.
