Investigation Underway

Authorities are investigating the intentional contamination of baby food products after a glass containing rat poison was found in Burgenland. A second contaminated glass is still being sought in the region. The case has escalated to charges of intentional endangerment of public safety and attempted serious bodily harm.

A 39-year-old suspect, a former employee of Hipp, is currently in custody. The suspect denies involvement, according to his lawyer, Manfred Arbacher-Stöger. Police are examining GPS data from vehicles to determine whether the suspect visited supermarkets in Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia where the tainted products were found.
