In March 2026, the number of requested corporate insolvencies in Germany rose by 15.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).

In March, the local courts reported 2,308 requested corporate insolvencies. A total of 6,275 corporate insolvencies were thus requested at the local courts in the first quarter of the year, 6.5 percent more than in the same period of the previous year, as the Federal Statistical Office announced.

Relative to 10,000 companies, there were 17.7 insolvencies in the first quarter of this year. The hardest-hit sectors were transportation and warehousing as well as the hospitality and construction industries. Relative to 10,000 companies, the first quarter saw the most insolvencies in the areas of transportation and warehousing as well as in the hospitality industry.
