The wave of corporate bankruptcies in Germany continues: In April 2026, according to the Federal Statistical Office, 2,276 companies reported insolvency to the local courts, 7.1 percent more than in the same month of the previous year.

This continues the months-long trend of rising corporate insolvencies in Germany. In the first four months of the current year, the number of insolvency cases rose by a total of 6.7 percent compared to the same period last year, as the Federal Statistical Office announced. In the first half of the year, 4,996 insolvencies were already registered – the highest level since the second quarter of 2005.
