The Bochum public prosecutor's office and the State Office of Criminal Investigation (LKA) of North Rhine-Westphalia have carried out a nationwide corruption raid in connection with tickets for the 2024 European Football Championship in Germany, searching city administrations among others.
The investigations target employees of city administrations who, according to the investigators, are said to have received thousands of tickets for UEFA Euro 2024 at preferential prices. As the Bochum public prosecutor's office and LKA NRW announced, the tickets "von einigen Städten genutzt und unterschiedlich verwendet worden". Specific sums or the exact number of suspects were initially not made public.
