Customs officers at Berlin Airport arrested a 22-year-old man with 16 kilograms of ketamine in his luggage, just before he was about to continue his flight via Zurich to Hong Kong.

Arrest at the Gate

According to customs, the 22-year-old was on his way to Zurich with the final destination of Hong Kong in early June when officers arrested him at the gate, after he had already passed the boarding counter. In his suitcase, he had hidden eight vacuum-sealed bags containing a white, crystalline substance among his clothing.

Investigations confirmed that the substance was ketamine. The officers seized the ketamine and his mobile phone as evidence.

Due to "etwaiger Wehrversuche" the customs officers brought him to the ground, customs further explained. In addition, "Fluchtgefahr aufgrund einer hohen Strafandrohung und des Verdachts des Bezuges zur organisierten Kriminalität" handcuffs were applied to him.
