The US actor Danny Glover has spoken publicly for the first time about his Alzheimer's diagnosis in an interview with the "Today" show, which he received shortly after his Honorary Oscar in 2022.

In the conversation, broadcast on Wednesday with host Lester Holt, the 79-year-old explained that he can "in a way live with it." At the same time, he acknowledged: "I'm sure that things will change over time." Alzheimer's is an incurable neurodegenerative disease of the brain and the most common form of dementia; according to reports, it impairs memory, slows speech, and restricts motor skills.

Glover described why he is now going public. It was important to him to be honest and not to say: "Oh yes, everything's fine. Everything's just fine." One must be able to answer questions without becoming dishonest. The actor further said: "He becomes the architect of his own change." With this, he alluded to how he is dealing with the disease.
