The German decoration chain Depot is closing 66 stores in Germany as part of its ongoing insolvency proceedings, affecting around 330 employees according to CEO Christian Gries.
Affected locations in twelve cities
The closures affect locations in several major German cities, including Berlin, Bonn, Braunschweig, Bremen, Dresden, Erfurt, Hamburg, Karlsruhe, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Munich, and Stuttgart. Depot has published a corresponding list of closing stores on its own website. The majority of the affected stores are to close after clearance sales by the end of July; some locations have already shut their doors.
According to CEO Christian Gries, only a little more than 80 Depot stores will remain after the new wave of closures. Just a few years ago, the company still operated around 400 stores; now the network in Germany and Austria continues to shrink. Stores in Austria are currently not on the German closure list; there, the network had already been reduced to around 30 locations following the 2024 insolvency.
