The German national team enters the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico as tenth in the FIFA World Ranking, as the ranking published on the opening day of the tournament shows.

FIFA published the current World Ranking on the opening day of the World Cup. It shows that the DFB-Eleven sits in tenth place. Germany thus remains among the top nations in world football, even though the gap to the top has grown larger. "Die deutsche Nationalmannschaft geht als Weltranglisten-Zehnter in die WM in den USA, Kanada und Mexiko," the statement reads.

Argentina takes over at the top

The new number one in world football is defending World Cup champions Argentina. The team around superstar Lionel Messi displaced France, whom the South Americans had defeated in the World Cup final four years ago. The French slipped to third place. Spain remains second in the rankings.
