Heidenheim, 23 August 2026

First-division side 1. FC Heidenheim faces Regionalliga side SSV Jeddeloh II in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, with head coach Frank Schmidt taking his place in the stands due to a yellow-red card suspension carried over from last season.

1. FC Heidenheim plays its first-round DFB-Pokal match against SSV Jeddeloh II on Sunday. The opponents from Lower Saxony play in the Regionalliga and are therefore four divisions below the Bundesliga club from Baden-Württemberg. The match will be broadcast live in audio stream.

For Heidenheim head coach Frank Schmidt, the cup evening takes an unusual turn. He will not sit on the bench but in the stands because he received a yellow-red card in the round of 16 of last season during the 0:1 loss against Hamburger SV. Under the rules of the German Football Association (DFB), such a suspension carries over to the next competitive match, regardless of the competition.
