Heidenheim, 29 August 2026

1. FC Heidenheim responded on Saturday at their own stadium with a clear victory over Dynamo Dresden to the two previous defeats.

Following the heavy 1:4 loss at Hertha BSC in the league and the surprising 2:5 in the DFB-Pokal at SSV Jeddeloh II, the team led by head coach Frank Schmidt was under pressure. The squad had appeared unsettled in recent weeks, but on Saturday Heidenheim presented a different side in their own arena. From the outset, the hosts dominated proceedings and barely allowed Dynamo Dresden to develop their game.

The situation ahead of the match was clear: after two consecutive competitive defeats, there was a risk that the mood around the club would continue to tip. But Heidenheim used their home strength at the Heidenheimer Tor and played with freedom. The players showed a fighting attitude that had been missing in previous outings. Particularly in the duels and in pressing, a clear difference was noticeable.
