Austrian athlete Enzo Diessl has qualified for the 110 m hurdles final at the European Championships in Birmingham.

The 22-year-old Diessl, who competes for Austria, secured one of the top eight spots in his discipline in the British metropolis. The 110 metres hurdles is one of the most tradition-rich sprint events in athletics. With his advance to the final, the Lower Austrian has achieved one of the biggest successes of his career so far.

The field of hurdlers is considered exceptionally strong. A total of ten athletes from across Europe competed in the semifinals on Tuesday evening for the remaining places in the final. Diessl impressed with a consistent series and a personal best time, which ultimately secured him his place in the final.
