Austrian triple jumper Endoriass Kingley finished sixth at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Saturday.

Final under changing conditions

Making it into the final of the top eight was the first major step for Kingley, but the final result reflected a mixed series of attempts. With his sixth place, the Austrian ranked behind the medal winners and missed the podium by a clear margin. The distance that secured him a place in the final was no longer enough for a top position in the final standings.

The final was contested under changing wind conditions, as is common in combined-events and jumping competitions at international level. Kingley delivered his best attempt early in the series, but was unable to match that performance in the subsequent rounds. His sixth place is both a confirmation of his qualification for the final and an indication of the room for improvement that remains.
