Dispute escalates in Berlin-Altglienicke: Man struck by car

The 47-year-old, however, had to remain in police custody. The reasons for the detention were not initially detailed by the authorities. The question of whether one of the vehicles involved was deliberately steered at the man also remains unanswered.

Investigations and evidence at the crime scene

Investigators secured evidence at the scene and interviewed witnesses who had observed the dispute. The exact sequence of events – from the initial altercation to the collision with the car – is now being reconstructed, it was said. Among other things, police are examining what role the vehicle played in the course of the escalation.

Residents of Kirschweg reported that conflicts between individual groups repeatedly flare up in the area. There are no indications of a xenophobic or otherwise politically motivated background, according to police. The investigations are focusing on the circumstances of the crime itself, the authority said.

Several charges are being considered legally. In addition to the suspicion of dangerous bodily harm through the car attack, other offenses such as threats or coercion could be examined. It will be crucial to determine who was driving the vehicle and in what context it was used.

Reactions and reports from the neighborhood

The incident is part of a series of altercations in Berlin that recently reignited the debate about safety in public spaces. Police announced that the area around Kirschweg would be monitored more closely in the coming days. Residents can contact any police station with information.

For the further investigations, officers are requesting witness statements. Anyone who observed the dispute or can provide information about the exact events should contact police, the authority stated. According to initial findings, no further injuries are known among the arrested men and the injured 47-year-old.

Witnesses sought – next steps

The evaluation of the evidence and the questioning of those involved are expected to clarify the sequence of events in the coming days. Only then will a decision be made on whether and against whom further criminal proceedings will be initiated, police said.
