Five people were taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon after a physical altercation near the World Clock at Berlin's Alexanderplatz escalated into an attack on police officers.
According to a police statement, the incident began around 5:00 p.m. when a 44-year-old man allegedly struck another 44-year-old man, causing a bleeding facial injury.
When officers arrived at the scene to intervene, the suspect was accompanied by two other men, aged 28 and 45.
The Initial Assault
During the attempted arrest, the two companions repeatedly feigned punching and stabbing motions before physically attacking the police officers.
As the situation unfolded, a 47-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman approached the scene and also behaved aggressively toward the officers.
