Record run as European Championship dress rehearsal
The 400 m hurdles specialist Anja Dlauhy used the title meet in Innsbruck to improve her own national mark. With her winning time of 54.52 seconds, she bettered the previous ÖLV record and underlined her European Championship form ahead of the continental title meet in Birmingham. The improvement came as a surprise even to the athlete herself.
"The second half of the race was incredible, I never would have expected the time and only realized it after a few minutes," said Dlauhy. In doing so, the runner was referring to the decisive section of the race, in which she was able to pull decisively clear of her strongest rival.
