The European Central Bank (ECB) raised its key interest rate on Thursday in Frankfurt am Main for the first time since September 2023, by 0.25 percentage points, bringing the deposit rate up to 2.25 percent.

The European Central Bank (ECB) raised its key interest rate on Thursday in Frankfurt am Main for the first time since September 2023, by 0.25 percentage points, bringing the deposit rate up to 2.25 percent. The main refinancing rate, at which commercial banks can borrow money from the central bank, rises from a previous 2.15 percent to 2.40 percent. The marginal lending facility rate for short-term liquidity also increases by 0.25 points to 2.65 percent.
