The insolvent Mannheim private brewery Eichbaum is ceasing operations after the rescue of the company has finally failed and dismissals loom for the remaining approximately 240 employees.

As became known from the company's surroundings on Monday, after months of struggling to secure a continuation, management sees no alternative but to cease operations. The reason is a massive financial gap that no longer permits a viable future perspective. This was reported by the daily newspaper "Mannheimer Morgen," as confirmed by Eichbaum works council spokesperson Georg Dohr to SWR.

Just a few weeks ago, there had been hope that a financial investor could take over the brewery. That hope has now been dashed. The Food, Beverages and Catering Union (NGG) declared on Monday afternoon that the rescue of the insolvent Eichbaum brewery had failed and that the workforce is now confronted with the shutdown.
