In Rödental in Upper Franconia, an eight-month-old boy accidentally locked himself in a car on Saturday morning and had to be freed from the overheated vehicle by firefighters.
Course of events on Saturday morning
According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday morning in Rödental near the Bavarian-Thuringian state border, when the outside temperature had already reached 28 degrees Celsius and the vehicle was parked in the sun. The 24-year-old father said he had given his infant the car key while he himself was loading items into the trunk. At that moment, the little boy pressed the button for the central locking system. The police described the course of events with the words: "Der kleine Junge betätigte den Knopf für die Zentralverriegelung, wie die Polizei mitteilte."
