Eintracht Frankfurt is preparing a move for national team goalkeeper Noah Atubolu from SC Freiburg, according to information from multiple media reports, and is responding to the ongoing form problems of first-choice keeper Kaua Santos.
According to consistent media reports, the Frankfurt club leadership is intensively considering a possible signing of Noah Atubolu, who stands between the posts at SC Freiburg and plays a central role in the plans of national team coach Julian Nagelsmann. Atubolu is regarded as one of the strongest German goalkeepers of his generation and has a long-term contract in Freiburg. Sporting director Markus Krösche and the new head coach are said to be personally driving the transfer forward.
The trigger for these considerations is the performance of Kaua Santos, who was undisputed number one during pre-season but once again clearly misjudged a situation in the friendly against FC Brentford. With the score at 0:2, the Brazilian let a saveable ball slip through his fingers into the net, once again fuelling the goalkeeper debate that has been simmering in Frankfurt for weeks. Repeated uncertainties from Santos had already caused annoyance among fans and officials during the previous season.
