Kingley, who competed as a ninth-place finisher at the World Championships and Austrian record holder, improved his personal season's best to 16.46 meters, but had to concede defeat in the standings to Algerian jumper Yasser Triki.
Triki secured victory with a distance of 17.58 meters. The Algerian finished well ahead of the field and confirmed his class in a discipline that African and Caribbean jumpers have helped shape at world-class level for years. For Kingley, a strong competition left him with second place.
