The discus thrower Lukas Weißhaidinger won the Raiffeisen Austrian Open in Eisenstadt on Wednesday evening, celebrating his sixth success in Burgenland with a winning throw of 66.11 metres.
In wind speeds of up to 70 km/h, the 34-year-old from Upper Austria prevailed over Michal Forejt from the Czech Republic, who finished second with 60.24 metres. Weißhaidinger was highly satisfied after the competition and emphasised the technical quality of his attempts. "Alle meine Versuche waren technisch einwandfrei", said the vice European champion in discus. „Die Bedingungen waren sehr fordernd. Aber in Eisenstadt kann mich nichts erschüttern."
