Energie Cottbus suffered an away defeat to Hannover 96 in the 2. Bundesliga on Sunday, after a technical malfunction in the refereeing team caused a lengthy interruption.
Already on late Sunday afternoon, Energie Cottbus faced the away game at Hannover 96 in Lower Saxony. In front of almost 20,000 spectators, a hard-fought match developed in which the Lausitzer side kept a clean sheet for a long time. In the end, however, a set-piece situation decided the game in favor of the Lower Saxony side.
In the second half, a technical problem occurred in the refereeing team that had a lasting impact on the course of the match. Due to a malfunction in the referee radio, the game had to be interrupted for several minutes. The interruption visibly affected the rhythm of the Cottbus team and ultimately also delayed what had already been described as an emotional Energie return to the top flight.
