In the World Cup quarterfinal between England and Norway in Miami, referee Clément Turpin allowed Jude Bellingham's controversial equalizer (45th+2 minute) to stand for a 1:1 final score despite a protest from the Norwegian team, even though the ball had apparently touched the broadcast camera cable hanging above the pitch beforehand.

The match, played in Miami, was the first World Cup quarterfinal in Norwegian history. The Scandinavians took the lead through Andreas Schjelderup in the 36th minute and seemed headed for an upset. Norwegian joy was short-lived, however, as Jude Bellingham equalized for England just before the break.

The scene that subsequently provided plenty of fuel for discussion began with a goal kick from Norwegian goalkeeper Örjan Nyland. The ball flew into the opposing half but, instead of bouncing on the turf, struck the suspended Sky camera hovering above the pitch for the TV broadcast. From there, the ball fell at the feet of "Three Lions" player Elliott Anderson, who immediately set up Anthony Gordon. From the "Neo-Barca star," the ball went on to Bellingham, who put it into the English goal.
