In the takeover bid by Taiwanese group Ennoconn for the Linz-based computer manufacturer Kontron, it is becoming apparent after the expiration of the offer period that the majority of shares required for a takeover will not be reached.

Background of the bid

The traded Kontron stock reacted on Thursday with price losses to the interim results of the takeover project. Traders in Frankfurt pointed out that the Kontron shares tendered to Ennoconn remain below the threshold that would be required for a successful takeover.

Ennoconn had previously made a public takeover bid for all outstanding shares of Kontron. The Taiwanese group, which in turn has ties to contract manufacturer Foxconn, intended with this move to secure access to the European market for industrial electronics, in which Kontron holds an established position.
