The major European stock indices mostly gained ground on Thursday, while the Dutch payment processor Adyen jumped around 14 percent after quarterly results, making it the top performer in the leading index EuroStoxx 50.

On the Zurich stock exchange, the Swiss Market Index (SMI) was last seen 0.2 percent higher, while the broader Swiss Performance Index (SPI) even gained 0.4 percent. The Swiss indices thus continued their recent recovery and benefited from positive cues from the US. In Frankfurt and Paris as well, the leading indices DAX and CAC 40 hovered with premiums of around 0.3 percent.

The biggest winner in the European leading index EuroStoxx 50 was Adyen. Shares in the Dutch payment processor shot up by around 14 percent following the release of business figures. Investors thus reacted apparently relieved to the results presented and to the company's outlook. In addition to the business development, observers pointed to the confident sentiment toward the European fintech sector.
