Solid Figures as Tailwind
In a market commentary on Monday, Henseler noted that companies in the United States and Europe had predominantly delivered positive surprises in the current reporting season. Both the results and the forecasts for the coming quarters were clearly above the expectations that analysts had formulated in the spring. This flow of data is supporting investor confidence and, with it, the recent upward movement in equity markets.
In recent weeks, several major indices in the US and Europe had marked new highs. In addition to corporate earnings, this was also triggered by the expectation that the major central banks could ease their monetary policy somewhat over the remainder of the year. Lower key interest rates would make it easier for companies to finance investments while also supporting equity valuations. The combination of solid corporate profits and a shift in monetary policy is regarded by many market participants as the driver of the rally.
