Kimi Antonelli extended his championship lead at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia and now sits 84 points clear of his Mercedes teammate George Russell, who was forced to retire in the sixth-to-last lap due to an engine failure.

The race in Malaysia marked another turning point in the Formula 1 title fight. Antonelli took advantage of his teammate Russell's difficulties and increased his lead in the championship standings by 18 points to a total of 84. Russell had been on course for a podium finish after a strong run before his engine failed in the decisive phase.

Verstappen's Strong Weekend

For Red Bull, the weekend went significantly better. Max Verstappen radioed the team garage after the race: «Was für ein fantastisches Wochenende», said the Dutchman, «wir können stolz sein.» The four-time world champion was satisfied with his team's performance, even though the result did not substantially close the gap to the top of the championship standings.
