Following Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League final victory against FC Arsenal in Budapest, massive riots occurred in numerous French cities on Monday night, resulting in almost 900 arrests and around 180 injured security forces.
The situation escalated particularly in Paris, where thousands of people celebrated on the Champs-Élysées. Masked individuals repeatedly clashed with security forces, used pyrotechnics, and erected barricades. Police deployed tear gas to control the crowd.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez stated on Monday that the number of arrests exceeded 890. Approximately 480 people were arrested in Paris alone, and 283 in the greater Paris region. Around 22,000 police officers were deployed nationwide, with about 8,000 in the capital.
