Ukrainian Defense Minister Mychailo Fedorov announced his resignation on Wednesday evening in a Telegram message, as President Volodymyr Zelensky pushes forward with a broader government reshuffle.

In a statement released on Wednesday evening, Fedorov wrote on Telegram: "Es war eine große Ehre, dem ukrainischen Volk als Verteidigungsminister zu dienen". He thanked the Ukrainian armed forces and all employees of the Ministry of Defense for their service. A concrete successor has not yet been publicly named.

Fedorov had previously served as Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation and is considered one of the younger, politically ambitious figures in the president's circle. During his tenure as defense minister, he had, among other things, driven forward the digitalization of administrative processes within the military.
