Taiskirchen, 09 August 2026
The festival grounds in Taiskirchen in the district of Braunau am Inn in Upper Austria were evacuated over the weekend after bomb threats were received by telephone.
The threat caught the organizers completely off guard. As the cultural association announced, several calls were received on the day of the event in which a bomb threat was made. The emergency services responded immediately and initiated the evacuation of the grounds. Visitors were asked to leave the area in an orderly manner.
Organizer in shock
The organizer, Johann Gattermaier, expressed shock following the incident. In an initial statement, he spoke of an enormous blow to the voluntarily organized festival and to the many helpers who had worked toward this day over many months. The cultural association explicitly thanked the police and its own stewards for their composed response.
