Rostock, 28 May 2026

On the seventh day of the trial concerning the violent death of eight-year-old Fabian, the Rostock Regional Court heard expert testimony on fiber evidence and witness accounts of the defendant's behavior.

A textile expert told the court that a lilac-blue dyed cotton fiber was discovered under the right thumbnail of the child. The expert stated that this fiber showed matches with a pullover belonging to the 30-year-old female defendant, who is charged with murder.

Additionally, a gray-greenish polyester fiber was found on a textile sleeve cuff of the victim. According to the expert, this fiber could originate from a pair of riding breeches belonging to the defendant.

However, the expert cautioned that evaluating such fiber findings is very difficult and hardly possible. The expert stated it cannot be said how a transfer of traces occurred, leaving the significance of the evidence open to interpretation.

Forensic Fiber Analysis

The court also heard from a local resident who testified about a police traffic stop in November near Klein Upahl. She described how one of two men was only 'discovered' during this checkpoint, quoting her own alarmed reaction: 'Sagt bitte nicht, dass es das Kind war!'

Earlier testimony focused on the defendant's communication with Fabian's father. The court played numerous voice messages and read chat logs in which the defendant repeatedly told him, 'Ich will doch einfach nur für dich da sein.' When the father expressed he was losing hope of finding Fabian alive, the defendant did not address his fears.

Prosecutors allege the defendant picked up Fabian with her car on October 10, 2025, and later killed him at a pond near Klein Upahl in the Rostock district. The indictment states the child was stabbed at least six times.

Graphic Evidence Presented

The session took a somber turn when photographs of Fabian's corpse were displayed in courtroom 2.002. The judge warned spectators that the images would be hard to bear and offered them the option to leave the courtroom.

Fabian's mother, who participates in the trial as a joint plaintiff, did not attend the session for this reason. The court heard that the child's body had been set on fire and showed severe burns.

The defendant's relationship with Fabian's father was also examined. The father had ended the four-year relationship with the now 30-year-old woman in August 2025, just months before the alleged crime.

Defendant's Relationship and Motive

According to witness testimony, the defendant claimed she wanted to hide that she had met with one of the two men on the day of the crime, allegedly saying, 'sonst wirst du mit reingezogen.'

A technical expert was expected to be heard later in the day regarding digital recordings from the defendant's car, which could provide further insight into her movements on the day Fabian disappeared.

The trial continues as the court weighs complex forensic evidence and emotional testimony to determine the circumstances surrounding the child's death.
