Murder trial over Fabian: Defendant Gina H. led chat about water corpses and DNA traces

The trial over the death of little Fabian from Güstrow (Rostock district) will be continued this Tuesday with the testimony of further witnesses. On the tenth day of the trial, however, the focus was initially on the evaluations of the defendant's smartphone. A police officer and digital forensics expert told the Regional Court Rostock that the 30-year-old had used the smartphone extremely intensively and, within four and a half days, had sent 1,100 voice messages, made 207 phone calls, and used messenger services more than 3,100 times.

Traces at the puddle and the autopsy

In the murder trial over the eight-year-old Fabian, who was killed last October, the evaluation results of the defendant's mobile phone were presented. The police digital forensics expert also said that the word "Brandleiche" was initially introduced by the defendant at the time. "Diese Angabe zur Brandleiche sei aus dem Nichts gekommen", the judge remarked.

On 13 October, that is, one day before the discovery of the body, the defendant then chatted, among others, with an acquaintance who today testified as a witness before the court. In doing so, the defendant herself pointed out that water corpses had no DNA traces, and that "Brandleichen" also had little DNA traces. The two exchanged views about a police search operation at the Inselsee, where tracking dogs had reacted.

Chat traffic and DNA references

Based on the camera recording of her car, it was also established that the defendant's car was at Fabian's apartment in Güstrow on 10 October. Based on the evaluation of WhatsApp messages and photos, it could be proven, among other things, that the defendant cleaned her car on 10 October 2025. Four days later, when the boy's body was found, the defendant told the police that she had not cleaned the car for a long time.

The third criminal chamber also intends to announce findings from telephone conversations. An investigator is to report on this before the Regional Court Rostock this Tuesday. The investigators had already monitored Gina H.'s phone shortly after the discovery of Fabian's body on 14 October. Her conversations in pre-trial detention were also monitored after her arrest.

Numerous voice messages played in the trial show that the defendant tried to win Fabian's father back. On the two previous trial days, the traces at the puddle near Klein Upahl (Rostock district) and the autopsy report were mainly discussed. Shoe prints suggest that Gina H. was not only at the puddle on 14 October, when she reported to the police that she had discovered Fabian's body there by chance during a walk with her dog.

Further witnesses and investigators

This coming Friday, the court has summoned the first of two acquaintances with whom Gina H. is said to have been there previously. One of them is to testify before the Regional Court Rostock about what he knows regarding the relationship between the eight-year-old boy, the defendant Gina H., and Fabian's father. In addition, on the tenth day of the trial, a police officer is expected who, among other things, has evaluated the data on Gina H.'s phone.

Furthermore, an investigator is to report before the Regional Court Rostock this Tuesday, consolidating findings from the monitored telephone conversations of the defendant. With this, the criminal chamber intends, according to its own statements, to further sharpen the picture of communication in the days before and after the discovery of the body.
