A 27-year-old man has been charged in Finland with the online abuse of 361 children aged between 9 and 15, the Finnish Public Prosecutor's Office announced on Wednesday.

The prosecution accuses the man of severe child sexual abuse, child sexual abuse, and the distribution of child pornography. The alleged offenses were committed between 2019 and 2022, according to the indictment. A total of 361 children, aged between 9 and 15, are said to be affected.

According to investigators, the man contacted the children via the online service Snapchat. He allegedly induced the minors to take photos of themselves in partially or fully unclothed states. Furthermore, he is said to have instructed the children to perform sexual acts on camera.

Investigations and Evidence

The case came to light when police examined the man's mobile phone in 2022 in connection with another criminal offense. Thousands of videos and photos of numerous children were discovered on the device. Investigators subsequently analyzed the material as part of a separate investigation.
