The consumer organization Foodwatch has awarded the dietary supplement LaVita the negative prize "Goldener Windbeutel" for the "most brazen advertising lie" of the year.

The product, which according to Foodwatch consists of around 70 percent fruit juice concentrate and contains 26 added vitamins as well as other micronutrients, is advertised as a "micronutrient concentrate" and on social media also as a "Saubertrank." With a price of around 100 euros per liter, it is in the consumer organization's assessment significantly overpriced. "Foodwatch accuses the manufacturer of using health claims to justify a significantly inflated price."

In an online vote with more than 66,000 participants, LaVita received 39 percent of the votes and thus clearly landed in first place of the negative ranking. In second place with 21.9 percent of the votes came Dr. Oetker's "Airfryer Backin Backpulver." "According to Foodwatch's assessment, the product does not differ from the manufacturer's conventional baking powder, but is sold as a special innovation for hot-air fryers at at least double the price." Third place was taken with 20.8 percent of the votes by an organic mango matcha yogurt from Andechser Natur.
