As reported by the Deutsche Presse-Agentur, the new poster for the tenth anniversary of the Hollywood hit "La La Land" (2016) was released with a note about "a small change." Specifically, Gosling's hand on the updated image was corrected upward to match the dance pose of his partner.

Gosling himself had repeatedly played up the pose humorously over a long period. In an interview with "The Wall Street Journal" in 2024, he explained that during filming of the scene he had not listened to the others and thought it was cooler to lower his hand. His "La La Hand" had simply ruined the swing, Gosling quipped. Later, when that scene was turned into the film poster, he got annoyed about his hand position.

Gosling's years-long joke

Just in March, Gosling had playfully recreated the dance pose in a funny action with the alien figure "Rocky" from his latest film "The Astronaut - Project Hail Mary" in order to correct his "La La Hand," as he joked in a video on Instagram. With the new anniversary poster, his long-running little gag now receives an official response from the film's marketing.

Responsible for the occasion is the studio Lionsgate, which re-released the iconic original poster for the film's return to US theaters in mid-August. On the occasion of this re-release, the corrected poster was also created, finally bringing the hand positions of the two lead actors into harmony.

For fans of "La La Land," the correction marks the conclusion of a small but persistent pop culture anecdote. For over ten years, Gosling had repeatedly commented on his pose on the poster; now the image has been officially adjusted to match the choreography of the film, in which Stone and Gosling dance harmoniously together.
